The Sector of International & European Affairs of SYRIZA Progressive Alliance expresses its full solidarity with the at least 125 people arrested - by noon - in neighbouring Turkey.

Shortly before the elections, the mass arrests of journalists, lawyers, artists and members of the Green Left Party (YSP) create a climate of tension and undermine the smooth electoral process.

We are following these developments with great concern. All political parties must be assured the opportunity to communicate their views to the electorate and seek the vote of the citizens through an equal and democratic political contest.
