The proposed ban on HDP, submitted to the Constitutional Court of Turkey, constitues an escalation of a long series of persecutions and imprisonments of MPs, mayors and leading members of this party. It is indicative that this proposal came after Turkey’s parliament decision to deprive from yet another HDP MP, his elected position.

If this ban takes place, it will further undermine democracy and civil rights in Turkey, and will violate directly the will of millions of citizens who sent HDP to Parliament as the third strongest party.
