On January 3 2020, the Press Office of SYRIZA issued the following statement:

The execution of Iran’s General Qasem Soleimani, by the US military in Bagdad, constitutes a dangerous act, which intensifies further the climate of distabilisation in Iraq and the broader Middle East region.

These crucial times, prudence and calmness should be the guide for the de-escalation of the tension. The international community should support an intensive dialogue between the involved parties and forces and respect of International Law. This is the only choice for the solution of chronic problems which trouble the region.
