The visit of the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to an illegal Israeli settlement at Psagot, and to the occupied Golan Heights, as well as his statements there, constitute another blow to the prospect of restarting a viable Middle East Peace Process. In a crucial period for the Middle East, such moves undermine peace and stability in the region.

SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance supports every effort to restart peace talks, under the auspices of the United Nations, as well as every initiative that contributes to the peaceful co-existence of Israelis and Palestinians.

SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance supports a fair and viable solution to the Palestinian issue, in accordance with UN decisions- a solution where the two states co-exist in peace and security, with a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital.
